Rudraksh is one of the oldest spiritual artefacts used by South Asian spiritual practitioners. Rudraksh is actually the fruit of a tree called Elaeocarpus ganitrus, or as it is also known, the Rudraksha tree. The Rudraksha tree is mainly found in the Himalayas. "Rudraksha," literally "the eyes of Rudra"—a form of Lord Shiva—in Sanskrit, is thus even more symbolic of deep spiritual connections to divine forces and enlightenment.
Rudrakshas have been prayed to since the beginning of time, and the epics are reflected in ancient holy books such as Puranas and Upanishads. It is said that Lord Shiva shed tears out of sympathy with people, and from those tears, the seeds developed. So, all the good attributes of Shiva are conferred upon a person who wears Rudrakshas, helping him gain peace and spiritual growth.
There are numerous varieties of Rudrakshas, as there exist several numbers of facets or "mukhis" they carry. Each one is said to possess individual properties and benefits in the following:
One Mukhi: This represents unity and is believed to be connected with godliness. It is the rarest and strongest among all varieties of Rudrakshas.
Five Mukhi: This is the most common variety, which symbolises the five prime elements like earth, water, fire, air, and space. This variety is said to provoke good health and emotional balance.
Six Mukhi: It is said to be associated with Lord Kartikeya. This form is believed to give strength and self-confidence.
Seven Mukhi: Goddess Lakshmi, it is believed, attracts prosperity and richness.
Eight Mukhi: It represents Lord Ganesha, who removes obstacles and enhances stability.
Nine Mukhi: It refers to the Navadurga that protects and empowers the wearer against any kind of evil that comes across their path.
Ten Mukhi: It is said to be related to Lord Vishnu and represents protection and harmony altogether.
Eleven Mukhi: This is connected with Lord Hanuman, which increases strength and power.
Twelve Mukhi: These are referred to as "the sun." These enhance the vitality and leadership abilities.
Thirteen Mukhi: These symbolise the goddess or the divine femininity, increasing creativity and intuition.
Fourteen Mukhi: Known as "the divine eye," these are usually sold for their spiritual awakening properties.
These numerous differences in mukhis make Rudraksha versatile for various applications of spiritual practices and holistic healing.
Medication Improvement: Rudraksha beads enhance meditation and link an individual with the ultimate.
Releases Tension: Rudraksha emits an energy that nullifies the tension and anxiety generated by a person and helps in building a peaceful atmosphere in and around him.
Helps to maintain Emotional Equilibrium: Different mukhis are linked to emotional and mental attributes of a person that help him to develop a better sense of balance in his emotions.
Helps to Maintain Blood Pressure: Some studies indicate that wearing Rudraksha helps improve blood pressure.
Painkiller: These beads are supposed to have painkilling properties. They relieve the patient from all sorts of chronic pains and headaches.
Enhances concentration: After repeated usage, mental capabilities may be improved. Better memory and concentration are promoted.
To reap benefits fully in the wearing of Nepal Rudraksha beads, one can wear them as follows:
Traditionally, the Rudraksha beads are strung along a length of string to make malas or prayer beads while chanting mantras or for any kind of meditation session. In general, a mala has 108 beads.
Jewellery: Necklaces, bangles, and stud earrings of Rudraksha open up the possibility of carrying these pieces of beaded energy with one wherever they go all the time.
Ritual Offerings: At religious functions, Rudraksha is kept in pujas or ceremonial worship as a presentation to strengthen the spiritual vibes.
Indeed, rudrakshas are more than ornaments because they symbolise deeper connections to spirituality and wellness. With such rich historical importance attached to these diverse benefits, they are an enshrined item among spiritual seekers and health enthusiasts.
